Action Sports Outreach

Action Sports Outreach(our stage name is StuntDudes) is the ministry that I have been a part of for the last four years. Vic Murphy started it in 2005 and I joined up in 06. Because of A.S.O. I've been able to perform all over the country and in 10 countries. We have so many opportunities to use BMX as a platform for sharing the good news! Since I have been living in San Diego while I heal up from my injury I have been spending most of my time helping out to promote the ministry. Check out our webpage and help promote what we are doing!

Yet another Broken Leg...

Yup. Broke my leg. The right one this time. Its a real bummer because I had to cancel my trips to India and Spain that were schedualed this fall :(

So this week(Sept16th-26) I had some free time between events and I bought a plane ticket to meet up and donate my time with a GX International tour in Zanesville Ohio. I met the leader, Jesse Fellers, while building a skatepark with Jud Heald in IL earlier this year and Jesse had invited me to be part of the tour. GX uses dancers, break dancers, skaters and BMX as a platform to share love through the truth of Jesus Christ.
The first few days we performed at schools to promote the large events. It has been awesome just traveling with all the loving peeps on the tour and getting to know new people that have a love for my Saviour.

On Sunday we had a show at a local church and it all started out fine with the dancing and ramp session when out of nowhere I crashed hard. My hand slipped off the handle bar as I simply went over the small skate ramp and I fell off with all my weight on my right leg. The pain was not too intense at first, but as I went to get up my ankle gave out and made a "L" where it should not have. I let out a loud yelp as I pulled myself behind the ramp and before I knew it I had a duct tape splint on and I was on my way to the hospital. Once we got there I realized the the bone had actually punctured my skin and pants and left some skin on the outside on my pants. There was blood... Jesse then told me the bad news that there was an accident and my insurance through GX somehow had not gotten started!
The surgeon had a look at my x-rays and told me I would need immediate surgery because I had broken my tibia and shattered my fibula. After an hour of intense pain and non-stop jokes to the nurses I got an epidermal shot. Just like the kind used for "C-sections" so I would be numb waist down for the surgery. The next morning all was well and I had a titanium rod going through my shattered fibula to hold er all together!
They said I should be able to ride again in about 10 weeks(December-ish). Pray all the finances come in with no problem!

So my plan is to stay out in San Diego with Vic to heal and use the time to do some media based ministry.

Skaters of Christ

Skaters Of Christ from StuntDudes! on Vimeo.

These four kids are no joke! They have some serious boldness. I met them down at the Whitewater skatepark and they were telling others about Jesus. I was so stoked that I met up with them and made them this little video to encourage others and help promote what they are doing.

Guatemala!!!

Action Sports in Guatemala from StuntDudes! on Vimeo.

I got invited to Guatemala for a week to help out with a multi-city festival that was put on by the Reid Saunders Association. KKSM sent pro skateboarders Elijah Moore and Mason Cornwell ot be part of the event. Over 40 high school kids from the states came to help out with the festival and it was a blast for them to all work together. The teens did dance routines, drama skits and gave testimonies at schools, prisons, and on the streets. The action sports fit right in! All the local bmx and skateboarders came and rode the ramps with the guys every day. They did outreaches in the city of Xela, and the neighboring village of Cantel. Hundreds of people came out for the events and the good news was spread!

Bikey Tricks in Rwanda!

Mr. Victor and I went to Kigali, Rwanda for a week to do some outreach shows with Andrew Palau and Christian Skaters. There were some problems getting the ramps built. But they were able to hammer everything together in time, thanks to a local pastor and his crew of hard workers.

We did four shows in total to draw thousands of people so we could share the good news. It was awesome seeing the hope in the eyes of a broken society when the gospel was clearly presented. The crowds also got really excited when they saw the bike tricks. After the show was over the entire crowd would just stop and stare hoping to see more! We made some great contacts that do full time ministry all over Africa so it looks like Africa is going to see more of the STUNTDUDES!

Bike Shows in Missouri

After my trip to Scotland I went to Missouri for a few weeks and got to hang out at The Bridge/Autumn Ramp Park to volunteer. During that time I did a Real Encounter show with Joe West and Brad Bennett in the Branson area for the Fourth of July. A few days later I lead the Chaos on Wheels team on a trip to Denton, TX. It was my first time leading the team on my own. I brought little fifteen yr. old skatepark ripper Robert Sheverbush on his first Chaos trip. We had 12 hrs of driving time to cover so we had some awesome conversations about spiritual things. We met up with some riders from Dallas area for the show at a christian youth camp. The bicycle stunt riding went really well and I also gave my testimony. After we got back to Joplin I hung out for a week and then I hit the road(air) to Rwanda! It looks like the next time that I might be in Missouri would possibly be the end of August.
